This is a “local touch DiD number” - in these cases, the scammer buys a local area code number that can actually receive calls back - versus a spoofed number. They don’t care about TCPA or DNC list. Many of these scammers are using Local touch DiD’s to avoid spoofing investigations - naturally these VOIPs forward back to call centers in Jamaica, India, Pakistan, or wherever. The local touch DiDs are emerging as the Rising Eagle Capital Group fines for spoofing become better known to scammers. The scum at TCPAworld outlines this well. It really hurts if you can take down one of these numbers.
