Fake Jelly Roll Uses AI to Scam Fans on Skype

A scammer pretends to be Jelly Roll on Skype, using AI videos to trick fans into giving him money.

Jelly Roll is a popular American rapper and singer known for his unique blend of hip-hop and country music. He became famous for his heartfelt songs and powerful performances, quickly gaining a large fan base. Many people love his music and connect with his story.

However, a fake account pretending to be Jelly Roll is trying to scam fans. This impersonator uses TikTok and Instagram to attract victims, leading them to the Skype app. Once there, the scammer attempts to steal their money.

To make the scam more convincing, the impersonator sends an AI-generated video that looks and sounds like Jelly Roll. In the video, an AI voice says phrases like:

• "Hello Mary, I hope you are having a wonderful day"
• "Thanks for being a fan I love you Mary"
• "Also part of my filter I do look silly right"

In this video, the name "Mary" is mentioned, suggesting that the scammer may have targeted another victim before. Since creating these AI videos takes time, the scammer uses the same video multiple times, claiming he sent it by accident to gain the trust of new victims. This way, the impersonator hopes to convince fans that he is really Jelly Roll and trick them into giving away their money.
